Modular Egress Training Simulator

The H6 Little Bird Helicopter design project was designed for a company called Survival Systems Ltd. It was a near to exact replica of the H6 Helicopter that was split in half and a ring was added to its center so that it could be suspended over a swimming pool that was simulating an ocean environment. (waves, rain, and wind) Furthermore, trainees would be strapped in as in the real life situation and dropped in the pool and flipped upside down. The simulator was designed to withstand a chlorinated environment. Therefore, specially selected materials were used and safety release mechanisms were design to ensure the safety of the trainees. All mechanical components were reproduced within the cockpit and aft cabin including weaponry, seating, consoles and instruments. Special considerations included the complex design of the external shells and front fairing. The design was completed in 12 weeks. More than 5000 parts.
