Grant Writer/Program Co-DirectorApr 2010 - Jun 2011 (1 year)
Community Building Initiative Grant-Tiny Tales & Mommy Gatherings\n\nI co-wrote and was awarded a Community Building Initiative Grant to launch a public program called Tiny Tales and Mommy Gatherings. It was a monthly program funded in whole by the First Five Sacramento Commission. I worked closely with other organizers to create and present correlated topics, discussions and activities for both children and mothers on a variety of culturally specific and engaging literary subjects held inside the Elk Grove library. \n\nThe program was designed to build communities and increase bi-lingual literacy in English and Arabic for ages 0-5 in the Elk Grove area. I co-wrote and edited lesson plans, led activities and story-times, organized events, facilitated parenting discussions, purchased supplies, tracked the budget, and filed reports with the First Five Sacramento Commission in a timely fashion. \n\nDue to our efforts and initiative the program was such a huge success and was partially adopted into the local Public Library curriculum. The turnout and success of the program also prompted the Public Library's acquisition of more bilingual books and other materials.

CSUS Foundation Project Activity Grant\n\nAs President of the CSUS Art club in the spring of 2004 wrote and received a grant to address art marketing and exhibition issues that were lacking in regular curriculum. I planned and implemented hands-on activities and a guest lecture series that covered a variety of topics such as; conservation framing of artwork, 2-D and 3-D slide photography, building portfolios, manipulating digital images of artwork, and marketing. The program was a great success, due in part to there being no comparable classes offered in the regular CSU Sacramento curriculum that would assist students with bridging the gap between their student years and professional careers.
