This is replacement site to be built using Rapid Weaver 5 that has been approved and budgeted and is on a fast track.
The original site promoted a large convention for dental professionals. It was a 3 day event held during October, 2010 in Los Angeles CA that featured 13 lectures of varying lengths that discussed a new orthodontic technique. The entire event was taped and edited into 18 video programs. The site that you will be bidding on and building will re-cap the event as well as promote video programs of the lectures. The layout has been fully designed in PAGES and has been approved by the client.
The site requirements are: 1.) A home page that describes the event itself, promotes the programs that are for sale and gives a quick synopsis of each speaker. Elements are extensive formatted copy, pictures, backgrounds and 3 video clips from the keynote address (would like to use YouTube engine, but am not tied to that). All elements are approved & cataloged and can be delivered to you in the format of your choice. 2.) A secure order form. 3.) Connection to a video streaming service that will provide a username, password and unique URL to buyers after payment is received. (Off-site page?) 4.) SEO friendly link structure that matches keywords. 5.) Sitemap
The domain name is purchased. Hosting is currently with GoDaddy, but the Realmac forum experts suggest that may not be the best way to go. We can decide on another vendor in consultation with you, then migrate and iron out kinks, hopefully before you upload. Streaming service has not been selected, but all candidates have been recommended by RW professionals in the forums and you will have input on the vendor if you wish. Same is true of e-commerce/shopping cart. Client has an [url removed, login to view] account, but is VERY open to moving to a less cumbersome, less expensive and more user friendly service if one can be found.
This client has built several sites in the past using DW & WP and understands the "gtocha's" and "roadblocks" that inevitably come up during a site build. We want to migrate to RW so that, over time, and as my competencies with the program increase, we will be able to bring basic modifications to site in house and, hopefully simplify our site modification processes significantly. (There is an opportunity for additional ongoing consulting here if you are interested.) This site build is a "test drive" for RW. Client has a large membership site planned to begin construction in April. If all goes well on the current project, our deep hope is that the membership site will be built with RW. We expect that project to be on a much grander scale than this one.
I have been with this client for 17 years. They are reasonable when it comes to program limitations, are always open to suggestions that make things easier for you, and, in the past, have reduced expectations or increased budget if project hits snags. They are also loyal...sometimes to a fault.
Client is located in Los Angeles CA, USA, but does business around the world. Interested parties from countries outside of the U.S. are encouraged to bid. If you are from outside of U.S., please briefly describe your communications protocol in your bid.
I will be your direct contact and supervisor of your work. I am a producer, designer and project manager. My job is to make your job as easy as possible and go to bat for you with the client if that becomes necessary. I will also manage vendor relationships, back-end functions and all other issues that would otherwise distract you from your design work as best I can.
This project is on a fast track.
Although I am not going to assign a deadline, you will be need to be ready to put your focus on it immediately after being selected and keep it there through completion. If you are juggling multiple projects, you will need to give assurances that you can hit the date you promise. Please keep that in mind when you are calculating costs.
