I’m building a platform whose sole purpose is research-grade data collection on habitat conditions within ecotourism sites. All information will come from structured on-ground surveys carried out by field teams, so the system must let them record observations, photos, GPS coordinates, and basic notes in a format that is immediately useful for later ecological analysis. The core workflow I have in mind is simple: a surveyor in the field opens a mobile-friendly form, inputs site details, adds measurements or categorical ratings for vegetation cover, soil health, water quality and similar parameters, then syncs the record to a secure online database as soon as connectivity allows. Back in the office I want to review those entries through a clean dashboard, run quick summaries or downloads (CSV/Excel), and visualize trends over time on an embedded map. Key deliverables • A responsive web or hybrid mobile interface for data entry, with offline capability and automatic sync once online. • A central database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other open-source option) structured around habitat-condition fields. • An admin panel that lets me create/edit survey templates and manage user roles. • Basic analytics: counts, averages, and time-series charts for each habitat variable, plus map layers using standard GIS libraries (Leaflet or similar). • Export functions so I can pull the raw dataset for further statistical work. Acceptance criteria 1. Field test shows a full survey (photo + GPS) can be saved offline and synced without data loss. 2. Dashboard loads summary metrics for 1,000+ survey records in under five seconds. 3. All exports open correctly in Excel 365 with UTF-8 encoding. If you have previous experience building conservation or citizen-science tools, especially those relying on on-ground data collection, that will help us move quickly. Let me know which stack you’d propose and any examples you can share.
