We are developing **Nightshade Protocol**, a PC hacker simulation game built in Godot, and are looking for a talented UI/UX designer to create the polished visual design system for the game's fictional desktop operating system, **Nexus**. Most of the game is played through Nexus. Players use a desktop, open movable/resizable application windows, manage files and credentials, read email, monitor their computer, browse a fictional internet, manage money, accept contracts, and use hacking/investigation tools. The underlying game systems and application functionality are already being developed. We are primarily looking for someone to create the **visual/UI design and reusable component system**, not to program the gameplay. We want Nexus to feel like a believable modern computer operating system with its own strong identity. We are not looking for an exaggerated neon sci-fi HUD. Readability, realism, usability, and consistency are important. ### What we need designed The project includes: - Nexus desktop and taskbar - reusable resizable application-window design - common UI component library: buttons, inputs, tabs, menus, dialogs, scrollbars, cards, tables, toggles, sliders, notifications, states, etc. - cohesive application icon family based on existing concept art - layouts/visual direction for approximately 15 Nexus applications - major apps including a file manager, email client, banking app, hacking/network tool, intelligence tool, credential vault, system monitor, organization/job-board app, and web browser - smaller apps including settings/control, media player, calendar, calculator, recycle bin, and related utilities - **Skylink**, our fictional web browser, including tabs, address/search bar, browser history, bookmarks, downloads, error pages, search results, and a dynamic homepage - a reusable fictional website design system used to procedurally assemble many in-game company websites - approximately 10–15 reusable website layout families/templates or equivalent modular variations - reusable news/publication layouts - reusable business-directory layouts The website portion is important: **we are NOT asking you to individually design hundreds of fictional websites.** We need a modular component/template system that our game can populate dynamically with different company names, branding, text, images, people, and content. ### Important technical requirements The game is built in **Godot**. You do not need to implement the UI in Godot unless you would like to quote that separately. We will handle engine implementation. However, the designs must be practical for implementation in a game engine: - application windows are movable and resizable - UI elements should be reusable rather than flattened into screenshots - scalable/9-slice assets should be used where appropriate - text should remain live text rather than being baked into images - vector assets are preferred where practical - component interaction states should be clearly defined - simulated websites must adapt to different browser-window sizes - colors and styling should be reusable/themeable where practical ### Preferred deliverables We prefer **Figma** for the editable source design, although we are open to another professional editable format if discussed in advance. Final handoff should include: - organized editable source file - reusable components and variants - color, typography, spacing, and sizing specifications - interaction states such as default, hover, pressed, selected, disabled, warning, and error where applicable - responsive/resizing examples - export-ready SVG/vector assets where appropriate - PNG/WebP assets where raster artwork is required - scalable/9-slice assets where appropriate - final application icons at agreed sizes - clear naming and organization for implementation ### What we already have You will not be starting from a blank page. We already have: - established game/Nexus direction - detailed specifications for the applications - application architecture and behavior - concept designs for many application icons - working game functionality and window-management systems - clear requirements for the fictional browser/web system - development/programming support on our side We want the selected designer to help turn that foundation into a cohesive, professional interface. ### Style direction We are looking for something that feels: - modern - believable - polished - professional - slightly distinctive/futuristic without becoming a sci-fi HUD - information-dense when needed but still readable - consistent across many different applications Think **a real operating system designed for the Nightshade universe**, not a collection of unrelated game menus. ### Ideal experience Experience with any of the following is a plus: - desktop software UI/UX - operating-system-style interfaces - game UI - Figma component systems/design systems - resizable desktop application layouts - Godot UI or game-engine UI constraints - dashboards/data-heavy interfaces - browser/web design systems - modular/procedural UI design Direct Godot experience is helpful but **not required** if you understand how to design reusable, scalable UI assets for implementation by another developer. ### When applying, please include 1. Examples of relevant UI/UX work, especially desktop software, game interfaces, dashboards, operating-system concepts, or browser-style interfaces. 2. Your estimated price or price range for the project. 3. Your estimated timeline. 4. Whether your quote includes the editable source files and export-ready assets. 5. Whether you are comfortable creating a reusable component/design system rather than only static mockups. 6. Whether you have experience designing UI for Godot or another game engine. 7. Whether you would prefer milestone-based delivery and how you would divide the milestones. Please begin your proposal with the word **NEXUS** so we know you read the project description rather than sending an automated generic bid. ### Project documentation A detailed internal UI requirements document is available and will be provided to serious candidates. It includes the complete component checklist, application breakdown, browser requirements, simulated website system, technical handoff requirements, suggested milestones, and acceptance criteria. We are happy to answer questions before finalizing scope and price. ## Suggested Freelancer skills/tags - UI Design - UX / User Experience - Figma - Game UI - Graphic Design - User Interface / IA - Icon Design - Godot Engine (optional/preferred, not mandatory) ## Suggested hiring approach Do not award based only on the lowest bid. Shortlist candidates whose portfolios demonstrate strong **systems thinking** and reusable UI work, then provide `[login to view URL]` before requesting a final fixed-price quote. A milestone-based contract is preferable so the Nexus visual direction and component system can be approved before the designer produces every application and simulated-web template.

NEXUS This is best approached as a **design-system project**, not as 15 separate application mockups. The key is defining a reusable visual language first, then applying it consistently across windows, utilities, browser UI, and procedural websites. I would start with the Nexus foundation: typography, color tokens, spacing, window chrome, navigation patterns, forms, tables, dialogs, states, 9-slice/scalable assets, and icon rules. Once that system is approved, I’d build the main application layouts and then the Skylink/browser + modular fictional website families. I’m comfortable designing around game-engine constraints such as resizable windows, live text, reusable components, responsive layouts, interaction states, and implementation-friendly assets rather than flattened artwork. I’d suggest milestone delivery: 1. Visual direction + core component system 2. Major Nexus apps 3. Skylink + website template system 4. Icons, secondary apps, polish, exports, and handoff Estimated timeline: **4–6 weeks**. Budget: approximately **$400–$500**, depending on the full requirements document. Editable source files and export-ready assets would be included. Could you share `[login to view URL]` so I can confirm the final scope and milestone pricing?

Hey there, The reusable system is the real challenge here, especially making 15+ Nexus apps and the Skylink website templates feel like one believable operating system rather than separate screens. I’ve worked on UI/UX systems with reusable components, dashboards, data-heavy interfaces, responsive layouts, and structured Figma designs, with implementation constraints considered from the start. I’d focus on creating a strong, polished design system that feels consistent across every touchpoint, while keeping the components flexible and practical for development. I’d build the core Nexus design language first, including windows, states, typography, spacing, icons and website components, then extend it across the applications and browser templates in milestones. This approach will keep the entire ecosystem visually unified, scalable, and easy to maintain, while allowing each application to have its own purpose and personality. Would you prefer the first milestone to establish the Nexus desktop and core component library before moving into the individual applications? Looking forward to collaborating with you. NEXUS — I like that your focus is readability, realism, and a strong product-like identity instead of a generic sci-fi HUD. The scope clearly calls for design-system thinking: desktop shell, resizable windows, component states, app families, browser patterns, and reusable web layouts that behave well across sizes. Yes, I’m comfortable providing editable source files and export-ready assets, not just static screens. If you share the internal requirements doc, I can map the work into sensible milestones right away.

Hi, the interesting part here is not just drawing screens for a fictional OS, but making the desktop metaphor feel internally consistent across multiple in-game apps. The real risk is interaction drift between windows, controls, and app behaviors, which usually makes these systems feel fake even when the visuals are strong. I’ve worked on products where the main job was turning rough functionality into a coherent user flow, then documenting it clearly enough for implementation. In your case, the Godot context matters because the UI needs to read like a believable operating environment, not a collection of disconnected mockups. The closest examples in my background are Custom Feature Development & Integration and Squarespace Checkout Streamlining for Meal Service -- 2, both of which centered on identifying friction points and structuring cleaner interface behavior. I usually structure work like this by separating interaction rules, component patterns, and app-specific layouts so the system stays consistent as more screens get added. The tradeoff is that a strong component model takes a bit more upfront definition, but it prevents redesign churn later. If useful, I can sketch the desktop interaction model first and outline the core UI rules before full-screen design begins. Thanks, Hercules

NEXUS A cohesive Figma design system will turn the Nexus desktop and applications into a believable, polished operating system with reusable components, scalable assets and clear implementation states. • Do you already have the preferred typography direction? • Would you like the visual direction approved before designing all applications? • Should milestones follow desktop, applications, and simulated websites? The work will cover reusable windows, buttons, forms, tables, menus, dialogs, states, icons, browser layouts and modular website templates. Designs will remain practical for Godot implementation, with live text, responsive layouts, vectors and organized components. Relevant game and dashboard interface projects have been completed with strong design systems, creating interfaces that feel consistent rather than like disconnected screens. Let us discuss the requirements document, milestones and timeline in chat. Best regards Farhin B

NEXUS Hi, The reusable-system part is what I would focus on first. A believable OS lives or dies on one component library that themes cleanly, so I would lock the Nexus visual direction, the window chrome, and a variant-driven component set in Figma before touching individual apps. That way the 15 applications and the Skylink website templates all inherit from one source instead of drifting. I work heavily in Figma with components, variants, and live text handoff. On one recent job I took a client's Figma into clean HTML/JS with reusable structure, and the client said we added pieces that were missing from the original file. One question: for the website template families, do you want them varied by industry, or one grid that reskins per company? A milestone on the core system first keeps you approving direction before app volume. Adil

NEXUS Desktop simulation games lose player immersion when fictional OS interfaces feel like flat, disconnected mockups rather than responsive software ecosystems. Designing without game-engine constraints causes major implementation bottlenecks when dynamic window resizing distorts containers, unstandardized margins break modular browser templates, or assets cannot cleanly translate into 9-slice NinePatchRect and Control node hierarchies in Godot. I will build a modular, believable desktop OS design system in Figma tailored for Nightshade Protocol. I will architect scalable component variants with full interaction states, structured typography/color tokens, 9-slice border rules, and resizable layout specs across all 15 Nexus apps and the Skylink procedural web templates. All deliverables include organized Figma source files, vector SVGs, 9-slice slices, and icon sets structured for clean milestone delivery ($450, 3 weeks). Share your UI requirements document, and I will review the component checklist immediately.

NEXUS, the first thing I'd focus on is making sure the component system can actually plug into Godot's UI system without friction. Reusable components, 9-slice scaling, and live text are non-negotiable here since the windows are resizable and the content is dynamic. I’ve built design systems for desktop-like interfaces before, including a mock OS UI in Figma that used scalable components and modular layouts for different application states. The key was treating everything as reusable parts with clear interaction states, not just static screens. I’d approach this in two phases: first, lock down the core component library (buttons, inputs, windows, tabs, etc.) with variants for different states. Then, apply that system to the major apps (file manager, browser, email client) and create templates for the simulated websites. All assets would be delivered in Figma with proper naming, color tokens, and specs for implementation. One unknown is how much the existing concept art constrains the style. If the direction is too loose, I’d suggest a small style guide first. Also need to confirm final asset formats and export sizes upfront. Thanks, Lazar.
