I'm seeking an expert in Unreal Engine 5.6, MetaHuman, and related plugins to create a demo/template for an API-driven avatar/NPC pipeline. Minimal game development, just to showcase the pipeline, will be required. We will use this process to create many more animations and characters. You will show us how to go from Metahuman creator to an API-animated asset on the scene. Requirements: - Use Runtime Lip-Sync and Runtime Audio Importer plugins, for dynamic runtime lip-sync. - Use LiveLink to create dynamic facial expression animations, to apply to the characters. Greatly prefer generic animations that can be applied to multiple characters, but one-off LiveLink animations are acceptable. - API-driven body animations, with a predefined set list. Greatly prefer use of Mixamo animations but not a requirement if those aren't compatible with the metahumans. - Dynamic API-provided audio wav file input for lip-sync (binary or file reference) Ideal skills: - Proficiency in Unreal Engine and MetaHuman. - Experience with lip-sync and audio integration. - Strong understanding of API interactions and animation. This template is to be in the form of a demo, showcasing two Metahuman characters, their facial animations, their body animations, and their control via API. The development is placing all these pieces together to create a pipeline for us. Generating characters will be required to showcase the template but are not part of the contract. The only true coding work is integrating these animations and audio input with the API controller. Video instructions are expected. Work is not complete until we are able to verify and duplicate the process/pipe.

Questions: 1) What’s the exact API contract you want UE to consume (HTTP/JSON schema, auth, push vs poll), and will audio arrive as URL, base64, or raw PCM? Any latency budget for request→speech→anim start and for concurrent NPCs? 2) For LiveLink facial, do you want runtime streaming on every play, or pre-baked generic facial clips (additive) captured once and reused across MetaHumans? Target platform(s) and UE 5.6 build configuration (Win64 Development/Shipping)? Suggestions: 1) Build a UE plugin using the HTTP module with a CommandRouter (AnimId, AudioRef, FacialPreset) that dispatches events to an AnimBP. Stream audio via Runtime Audio Importer into USoundWaveProcedural; feed Runtime Lip-Sync phonemes to MetaHuman Face curves via a remap table. Sync audio/visemes using a shared clock and OnAudioPlaybackPercent to prevent drift. 2) Normalize body animations by retargeting Mixamo→UE Mannequin (IK Retargeter)→MetaHuman, store in a DataTable keyed by IDs, and play via Montages with SyncMarkers for deterministic transitions. Capture LiveLink once, bake to additive facial anims (curve-only) for cross-character reuse. Deliver a reproducible project + short video showing character creation→retarget→API control→runtime lip-sync.
