My intent for the person who gets the project is to show me how to do everything that is to be done step by step. I'm not interested in a team viewer application for this work. I need to be able to know exactly how to run what I have from top to bottom, hardware to software and any networking in between. I know this sounds strenuous, but I feel this will be in my best interest. Also, I would like if possible to have whomever working on the project to be willing to maybe stay on the sideline for 1-2 months after deployment of the system and I'd be willing to pay on a smaller scale per incident if need be because I realize not everything can possibly be planned out and executed for the future (stuff happens). My schedule for work is 12 hour shifts on night shift PST 6pm-6AM Sunday, Monday and Tuesday one week and the second week Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. However, I am able to work on whatever the workload you give me every morning coming home from work a couple of hours each day during the workweek and then I can focus a lot more hours on the weekends. Figured that by giving this information ahead of time, everybody will know where I'm coming from. Here is my PC Part Picker list with my hardware. I've got three server chassis which I recently completed and all have the same hardware. Everything is ran through the KVM switch to make it easier for one monitor, keyboard and mouse setup. Each server will be a headless setup with zero GPU, only the CPUs GUI. I'm 99% done with everything on the server rack other than some cables, the mail should have my ethernet cat6a cables and a few other small cables for connecting. I'll send a picture along with this post as well to give you an idea of what I'm working with. My intent with the three server chassis is to build an already growing discord server to connect players together for ease of community and player networking. My research and purchasing of the hardware in the server rack has led me to believe I should be able to accommodate a decent amount of players at any given time. Here is what I've been working with to build up the server rack: [login to view URL] Server Rack [login to view URL] Server Chassis hardware As of now my server chassis x3 are all 100% but just for hardware. I've turned them all on and everything seems to work properly besides the motherboard code which all three are showing A6 code. The Taichi lite MB for this code I've read is showing up because no OS is being indicated (obviously so). So far no device besides my UPS and PDU have been turned on or even powered up yet. The Firewall, switch, KVM and router have not touched electrical power yet. My UPS and PDU are on and have been idle with no problems since I got them plugged in (about 3 weeks now). Don't mind the two server chassis towards the top. Those are empty just in case I ever grow I have it ready. The Servers will be labeled 1, 2 and 3 starting from the third one from the top. Machine#1 Dedicated Ark - ase with 12 cluster map running with 20-30 concurrent players Ark - asa with 12 cluster map running with 20-30 concurrent players As for Machine#2 and #3 I'm not really sure which games would be best to go together for the purposes of evening out hardware resources, but here is the list. Dedicated Craftopia with 15-20 concurrent players Enshrouded with 20-30 concurrent players Grounded with 4 separate servers running with 4 concurrent players each Grounded 2 with 4 separate servers running with 4 concurrent players each Minecraft with 50-100 concurrent players Palworld with 20-30 concurrent players Satisfactory with 20-30 concurrent players Valheim with 20-30 concurrent players V-Rising with 20-30 concurrent players I understand that it may be a situation where it is best to split the server groups in maybe halves instead of the chunkier sized servers. But these are the current Survival/Crafting/Automation genre games that the server and I are interested in. I have a separate ISP coax cable coming into the server room on it's own separate line from my home network ISP. So I recently have a new and separate network from my ISP that is 1 gig symmetrical internet, so 1 gig up and 1 gig down. My intent is to use a Linux OS because of apparent security, resource management and openness of the OS vs windows. However, through my research it does appear to be harder to set some things up such as my server rack idea with the dedicated game servers. Some games are apparently native to windows only. But then I learned about a program called proton via Wine with Linux and so on and so on....Mainly I'm looking for a setup for each system to be segmented for security via VLANs, VMs and docker while making the managing of servers via a GUI easy for me. I found out about Linux server OS but I don't think I'd be able to control the servers via command lines with my little to no experience. I was thinking maybe Ubuntu? Heard that's pretty nice. Anyways thanks again for your time. Question 1.) Are you willing to do discord calls just in case I have some confusion on a specific topic that we're working on in the project where a message may not be sufficient? What’s your preferred method of communication during a project (Discord, email, etc.)? Question 2.) Could you share your typical availability during the week and how quickly you’re usually able to respond to messages? What does your weekly availability look like for responding to messages or scheduling walkthroughs? Question 3.) Are you familiar with setting up these games from Steam on a Linux OS? I've heard some do well with Linux and some you have to use something like Proton which I wasn't able to figure out if some work well with this or not. Question 4.) I'll be using a "administrative" computer in my server room to control all the server rack devices. Can you help design a GUI-based management interface to control all the functions for the hardware/software of everything for an all in one purpose? Do you have experience with headless server setups and KVM integration? Question 5.) I'm interested in Ubuntu Desktop OS from my research however, what Linux OS/distributions do you recommend for this kind of multi-server gaming environment, and why? Question 6.) Are you comfortable walking me through each step of the setup process in a way that’s beginner-friendly? Question 7.) Can you provide documentation or visual guides for the steps we take together? Question 8.) Would you be open to providing occasional support for 1–2 months after deployment, on a per-incident basis? Question 9.) Do you enjoy working on community-driven projects like gaming servers? Question 10.) Have you ever helped someone build a server rack or gaming infrastructure from scratch before? Question 11.) Can you help me configure VMs, VLANs and Docker containers across three Linux-based servers? Question 12.) Which Linux distros have you used for server deployments, and what’s your experience with GUI tools for management?
