Nature of Request: Collaboration during Proposal Stage. We are looking for Professional Transcribers of below languages who are willing and capable of collaborating with us for a UN Transcription project proposal that we are currently working on.
Job: Transcription Services: Transcribers shall work in their mother tongue or have a degree at Bachelor's level or higher, preferably in English language/literature and/or French, Arabic, Russian, Spanish. Transcription will be conducted from/to languages:
English - English
French- French
Spanish-Spanish
Arabic -Arabic
Russian - Russian
The transcribers should be professional writers, able to research geographic and technical terminology and be at ease engaging with global accents.
Languages Unlimited will provide the required storage space, audio files (exported in wav file format unless otherwise indicated), which includes annotations to identify speakers. The Transcribers will be required to customize transcripts including speaker identification, keywords, and formatting.
Unless otherwise arranged, these files will be available for download by the Transcribers no later than 48 hours prior to the expected delivery time. Further to this, the Client ensures understandable quality of recordings with the client.
On average investigative interviews last for 60 minutes. However, in some cases and especially when interviewing a subject, interviews can last between 2 to 4 hours.
The standard form of calculation of rates and fees will be one (1) hour of recording.
For interviews that last over 1 hour the appropriate, relative ratio price will be calculated. For a 90 min interview this would mean (base price) x 1.5 = ratio price.
The service provider is required to submit the transcripts in a timely manner and within 48 hours of receiving the recording. When this period overlaps with a weekend or religious/national holiday, 72 hours will be at the service provider's disposal. For urgent matters, 24 hours will be provided but the service provider will be notified in writing by UNHCR, at least 48 hours prior to the expected delivery time. For deliveries exceeding 72 hours but within 120 hours or between 120 and 168 hours reduced and/or different rates shall apply. (I will send you a copy of the price schedule that you need to input your rates upon receipt of your response).
The transcription document will normally be returned in MS Office Word format unless otherwise agreed.
Quality controls, including proofreading and revisions as necessary are considered to be part of the standard 48 hour turnaround. Transcript surcharges or service fees will not apply.
The accuracy rate expected is not more than one error in 100 words. In case of more errors, the document will have to be corrected and re-submitted and no surcharges or service fees shall apply.
The service provider will be required to number the pages and annotate each inaudible event on the recording in the transcript with a time reference, e.g. "unclear: 0:11:32"
The standard page format to be used for transcriptions is A4
