We are seeking consulting services in the development of a modified Elston-Stewart (R. Elston, J. Stewart, A general model for the genetic analysis of pedigree data. Hum Hered. 21 (1971) 523-542.; see manuscript here - [url removed, login to view]) algorithm. The original Elston Stewart formula provides the calculation of the likelihood for the joint phenotypes/genotypes of all available family members across multiple generations. We wish to modify the original formula to delete the probability term involving phenotypic expression of the underlying genotype as this term is not relevant for our purposes. Further, we do not need to consider any linkage among alleles distributed at multiple loci because the loci of interest segregate independently of each other. The project will be broken into several phases. This is the first phase of work, intended to evaluate our potential consulting relationship: the task is to calculate the probability of the observed data (see attachment) assuming that transmission of alleles is according to Mendelian inheritance. The output of the task is (1) the pedigree likelihood probability associated with each pedigree provided, (2) a text description of the calculation in a step-by-step manner, referencing the manuscript provided, (3) the formal mathematical formula for the calculation. Thank you for considering our project. If this is a suitable project for you, kindly provide a proposed fee for the solution.
