Hello, I would like to setup a root server and looking for an expert who can: - setup basic server (12.04 LTS min) for LAMP and email – no additional packages that are not needed – no X, … - setup SSH with public / privat key only - setup vsftpd with public / privat key only - harden ubuntu like described here: [login to view URL] – stop at issue 12. – so NOT the following: PSAD, RKHunter and CHKRootKit, SELinux – Apparmor, NMap, LogWatch - any idea from you is welcome - install and setup following (IMPORTANT please do not install more than this): -- eMail: Dovecot and Postfix – with POP3 and IMAP and secure SMTP – all secured and over SSH only – with 3 email – one with catchall -- apache2 with SSL basic configuration -- PHP basic installation with APC enabled -- MySQL basic installation -- one cronjob as an example -- Install a free backup that can create easy manual and timebased automatic snapshots of the system and backup DB and send it crypted to another IP using sFTP Everything should be well documented – so all steps are replicable. There's maybe something missing - please advise what you would recommend first! Result should be a secure basic LAMP server... After that I would need some more hours - I think about 2-4h to help with some additional questions and later we need a continuous support for 2-5 servers. I think a real expert can do it in a very short time. Server will be available from 10th April on and should be setup until 15th of April. Happy to get some offers - THANK YOU!, Marko

Hi Marko, I will setup all the tools and applications the way you have mentioned. About backups if you have any tool in mind let me know, I have always used a combination of my own scripts + rsync for remote backups. Encryption is no issue. Also I will recommend addition of CSF a firewall (iptables management tool). And I don't recommend you to have any FTP server on system for security reasons. Regards usman

Hello Marko, I'm comfortable with setting up the server as you described, however, I do have some questions. What exactly do you mean by setting up vsftpd with pub/priv key only? The FTP protocol which vsftpd implements doesn't have support for something like that. The closest thing it does support is SSL. Also, at the eMail part, what do you mean "over SSH only" ? They all run under their specific protocols, optionally with TLS enabled, but they don't really have anything to do with SSH. Speaking of email, would you need the 3 domains setup in a database or are you ok with plain postfix db files? The rest looks pretty good. Regarding the timing: I won't be available on the 11th of April, but I can deliver within the required timeframe (10-15th April). Let me know so that I may adjust my bid accordingly.
