part I will be more more than 4000 words in length.
choose a relevant issue to develop from one of the following areas:
1. rural land use and sustainability
2. urdan and regional economics
4. climate change
[url removed, login to view] and public policy
( I decide to write the relationship between family income and energy consumption using linear regression in spss)
in part one of the project you should
explain why this is a relevant and important issue for investigation,
specify an appropriate research question to pursue
briefly evaluate current thinking in the area (review the literature), and discuss how this sets the context of your research
collect information for analysis and evaluation by whatever means you chose drawing on both quantitative and qualitative methods. therefore you should analyze some numeric data, and also undertake some primary research and collect qualitative data (such as by carrying out some interviews)
analyze the information you have gathered appropriately
demonstrate your recognition of limitations in the data/information you have gathered
write up the work in a structured manner relating your results to the question you have chosen to address.
part II must be no more than 2000 words in length:
in part II of your project you should discuss:
caveats/limitations in the approach adopted in part I and what you hope to achieve with greater time,
how you take your research forward
the theoretical approach that underpins your methods
the research methods you would adopt
how you would source your information/data
how you would analyze your findings.
As it is a mixed method coursework, in terms of word count, I want to do approximately 1000 words on lit review, 1500 words on qualitative part, 1500 on quantitative part using spss, explain clearly about each parameter and result. and the final 2000 words, I would expand more on regression analysis for my quantitative part, and expand more on participatory observation or etc (any longer term research method) for my qualitative part.
regarding the qualitative part, please use the methods from
Social Research Methods
regarding the quantitative part, please use the methods from
part V of statistics for the behavioral science

(btw, when doing the work, it is very important to explain what each things mean in spss)
