I have a 40M record address file that I want to upload and update monthly. I will have an initial setup of the base file with 40M records, and then monthly additions and subtractions. The file record format is described in the attached [url removed, login to view] file. I've also attached a sample file 979.txt.
I will receive the 40M record file in approximately 1000 txt files like the one attached. (sorted by zip code) I want an automated process to upload these into the database. I also want to automate the update of additions and subtractions.
I then want to run reports off of this database to create new csv files, creating simple reports of about 70K rows. (e.g., consolidate data to 5 digit zip code from 9 digit zip code).
I don't know if there is a way that Access can handle this. Would love it if so. I also have a webserver with a mySQL database, but would like something integrated with a front end where I can run reports (I don't know if access will work for this or not, but would be great if it would). This does NOT need to be integrated to the web, as I will be the only one to use it.
Please give me an understanding of what you propose to develop for the final specs. I think this should be a very simple job as the DB is only 2 tables and the links are very defined already. If it weren't so large I could just do it myself in access in a few minutes
