Migrate Java Desktop to Web

I’m modernising a mature Java desktop application and need a partner who can turn it into a fully-featured web platform without losing any existing functionality. Backend • Extract the current business logic and repack it as clean Spring Boot REST APIs. • Keep the same data model and continue using our MySQL schema, but refactor queries where needed for performance and security. • Add comprehensive unit and integration tests so future releases stay stable. Frontend • Build a responsive, accessible interface in React. Users are already familiar with the desktop layout, so key screens should feel recognisable while taking advantage of modern UX patterns (mobile-first, modals, lazy loading, etc.). DevOps & Deployment • Containerise the full stack (Docker) and deliver an automated CI/CD pipeline to AWS—preferably using ECS or EKS, but I’m open if you have a stronger AWS-native approach. • Provide infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation or Terraform) so environments can be spun up reliably. Security & Performance • Role-based access integrated with Spring Security and JWT. • OWASP best practices, HTTPS everywhere, and sensible rate-limiting. • Benchmarks should show equal or better performance than the current desktop build for core workflows. Deliverables 1. Spring Boot source with documented REST endpoints 2. React codebase with reusable component library 3. Dockerfiles, IaC scripts, and deployment guide for AWS 4. Migration script/data loader for MySQL 5. Read-me style technical documentation plus a brief user guide Acceptance Criteria • All legacy features reproduced in the browser without regressions. • Successful end-to-end tests on AWS staging environment. • Code passes static analysis (Sonar or similar) with no critical issues.
