Java App Web Migration

I am moving our established Java-based desktop application to a fully web-based platform. The goal is to preserve every existing feature while giving users a faster, more intuitive experience and a system we can scale effortlessly. Back-end The current business logic will be refactored into Spring Boot REST APIs. I will provide the original codebase; your task is to translate and optimise the logic, introduce proper layering, and add role-based security, rate limiting, and automated tests (JUnit). Front-end React is the chosen framework. I want a clean, responsive interface that mirrors today’s look and feel but adapts elegantly to mobile, tablet, and desktop. State management should follow current React best practice (Redux Toolkit or Context, whichever suits the scope), with complete API integration and error handling. Data All data sits in MySQL. You’ll design any necessary schema updates and write migration scripts so legacy data remains intact. ORM mapping (Hibernate/JPA) must be clear and unit-tested. Cloud & DevOps The finished solution will land on AWS—containerised (Docker) and orchestrated (ECS or EKS, your call). A lightweight CI/CD pipeline (GitHub Actions preferred) should build, test, and deploy on every commit, with environment-specific configs, logging, and basic CloudWatch alarms. Deliverables • Source code for Spring Boot services and React UI • Database migration scripts plus rollback plans • Dockerfiles, AWS deployment manifests, and CI/CD workflow files • Setup guide and short hand-off walkthrough video Acceptance criteria • All legacy features reachable through a browser without desktop dependencies • Average response time ≤ 200 ms under current peak load • OWASP scan shows no critical issues • One-click deployment to AWS completes successfully from the main branch If you have solid experience migrating desktop Java applications to Spring Boot + React stacks on AWS with MySQL, I’m ready to collaborate and get this shipped.
