I need help writing a 90th birthday party speech about the birthday "girl" for a mix of friends and family. There is a real mix of people who have known us for a long time, a short time, those who stay in close touch and those we had virtually lost touch with or even are new partners we have never met, so the speech is aimed at a wide audience. Mum has alzheimers so although she will say a few words of thanks we will keep this very short and freestyle, so this speech about her will be the main one. It doesn't need to be long (5 mins max?), I just want it to be entertaining and meaningful, but as the only daughter I'm just too close to her to know where to pitch this.
Ideally I don't want to give the bulk of the speech but get a Churchill voice artist to talk about her and/or our family (the whole day is 1940s themed with a VE day buffet and 1940s singers/dancers) but I don't want it to sound like a eulogy - a) it's not a funeral and b) I find eulogies incredibly boring.
