This project involves using a series of piezo-electric vibration sensors on a drum surface to detect a drumbeat. The required parameters will be strength of the beat (amplitude), frequency of the beat (eg. beats per minute/hour) and location of the drumbeat.
This may require an instrumentation amplifier for smaller vibrations.
The sensors, ADC converter and instrumentation amplifier will need to be stuck to a flat sheet that can be placed on top of the drum. The analogue signal will need to be converted to a digital signal and wirelessly transmitted to a computer and mobile device where an output can be read.
This may also involve simple visualisation of the output as well.
