Please include footnotes / comments / details about each part of the script. This is what we need:
We have an SFTP server
Our customer will upload a file every day at 12PM EST. With WinSCP we run a PowerShell Script to Update Local Directory.
The Script grabs the latest file uploaded into the SFTP server and places it into the directory:
We need a script that will then grab the file based on its extensions (.LST & .MCF) from the Prints folder and place it into a local directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\FieldSmart View\Delta\
This script then goes onto monitor the folder, "Delta" and create a log file (.txt) with the computer's name and time/date stamp and move the log file right into the Google Directory:
G:\Team Drives\Prints\Logs\Computer name folder\
The log file simply contains a log of when and what files were created (moved) into the Delta folder. The script has to monitor the folder at all times, 24/7/365. The script will also need to create a brand new folder with the computer's name if there's not already a folder labeled with the computer's name.
If it creates a new folder it's because this is the first time the machine is thrown into this environment and for the first time a log file is created. If the folder with the computer's name already exists, the script skips this step and continues to move the log file right into the folder.
This is a script that has to run in the background (hidden) and will be pushed onto 50 laptops. This script must run the moment the computers are turned on until the computers turned off.
We're more than likely going to push the script through ConnectWise Automate.
Another idea we have is that instead of creating the log file and placing it into the Logs folder on the Google Team Drive, if there's a script that can upload the log files right back onto our SFTP server, without installing an FTP client onto each machine, that would be good too. This avoids any human interaction with these log files.
Google Team Drive would require that all field technicians have the right to upload/store files for this script to work. We do not want the field technicians to access these log files.
Because this data is not really information sensitive, we don't mind if it just uses regular credentials vs secure to upload back onto the SFTP server.
