Sharepoint create parent/child relationship on custom list

My company is using Sharepoint online to facilitate general business processes. We are looking for a developer to implement a parent/child relationship on three lists within our sharepoint environment. Here's some details:

Our company manages aircraft on behalf of our customers. Upon trip completion, each pilot much complete a trip expense report. Under this expense report, the pilot must identify any associated costs (1), their time (2) and the routes (3) they took. Using out of the box sharepoint components we are able to use web parts to show these associated expense, times and destinations without issue.

The default WebPart also shows the toolbar that allows us to add new items. However when you try to add a new item, you will find that SharePoint needs you to select the master item to link to. Not so nice. What would be nice is if we could add child elements from the parent item, and they would automatically get associated with the parent item. Sadly SharePoint doesn’t provide this out of the box.

There is a known solution to fix this using javascript and cookies. Please see links below:

In summary, we need a developer to help implement the solutions referenced in the links above on three separate lists in our environment. Let me know what additional details are needed.
