I have spent around 385 hours cold calling for US companies, mostly homeowners and small business owners, so calling parents at home is familiar territory even though the product is different. Being straight with you, I have not sold tutoring before. What I have done a lot of is calling people at home about something they already half know they need, which is the same conversation shape. A few things I would want to get right here. Parents do not buy tutoring on a schedule, they buy it on a trigger. A report card came back, a test is coming, a teacher said something at parents evening. So the first question is not whether they want tutoring, it is what made them think about it. If nothing did, the call is short, and better to find that out in 40 seconds than in five minutes. Whoever answers is often not the only decision maker. I would confirm that early rather than pitch the whole thing twice. Math and English across Pre-K to 12th is a wide range. The pitch for a 5 year old is nothing like the pitch for a junior worried about SATs, so I would want separate openers by age band rather than one script. Two questions before I could commit properly. Where are the leads coming from, inbound enquiries or a cold list? And what counts as converted, a booked trial session or a paid enrolment? That changes what I optimise for on the call.
