Its a suggestion, not mine to write ! The first deep space collineation attempt on a distant goldilocks planet. The colonists soon developed underground communities, with above ground farming communities above ground. Everything was great until they found out about a five year cycle of the native wildlife. First cycle was diurnal predators, second cycle was nocturnal who consumed the first cycle. Above ground communities were total destroyed ravished of life. They scientists with biologists decided to use DNA genetic manipulation to create a defense. They used Lizard, Cobra and Harris Hawk DNA to create a flying creature who could spit corrosive acid with flesh-eating bacteria, that could fly. It was diurnal, an average person it could carry, with a unexpected result they were telepathic and bonded to one person only that they chose. Then they did the same with fruit bat, who were also as above, but only at night. They were called Sun Riders & Night Hunters.
