Unadopted roads put the responsibility squarely on residents, which means the inspection report needs to be good enough to act on. I'm a mechanical design engineer and project consultant with experience in infrastructure assessment and professional technical reporting. I'm London-based and work with a local inspector who covers Cambridgeshire and can carry out the full site survey on the ground across all 200 properties in the estate. How we'd approach this: 1- Walk every road and path within the estate boundary systematically. 2- Identify and log surface defects: cracking, potholes, subsidence, and deteriorating edges 3- Flag immediate safety hazards separately for priority attention 4- Photograph each defect with location context so issues can be found and matched to the report 5- Compile findings into a clear written report structured by road and path section 6- Include a prioritized summary of urgent, short-term, and long-term maintenance needs Happy to discuss scope and timing.
