Special Metal Stamps:- The Order fulfilment process
You have recently started working as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership associate (KTP) for a well established manufacturing company. The business designs and manufactures punches used for marking metal products with a stamp. Figure 1 is an example of such a punch. Due to the global credit crunch and widely reported recession the business has seen the demand for its products drop. This, combined with increased competition from the Far East has lead them to set-up a manufacturing facility in India to manufacture and maintain a base level of inventory. The UK based production line is to be used to accommodate spikes in demand. Recently, demand for punches has increased but rather than increase the stock level imported from India the UK based business would like to accommodate this additional workload. The business's on-time delivery is second to none; as it has already implemented Lean Operations on the shop floor to reduce waste, but it has not looked at the supporting business processes. The managing director is keen on continued professional development and currently sponsors you on your MSc/MBa. One on the modules you are studying is BPM, hence the managing director has asked you to make recommendations for improving the way the business is operated. Figure 2 illustrates the business process for purchasing goods from Special Metal Stamps.
Produce a report covering the following three elements.
• From analysis of various manufacturing organisations, produce an organisational chart, eEPC and any other models you consider relevant which would facilitate good communication and enhance current business practices within SMP.
• Discuss the Technologies which you recommend in your process models.
• State any assumptions that you have had to make in completing this section.
Your report should consist of the following sections.
• An executive summary (no more than 250 words) outlining what improvements can be made to the business process.
• Problems with the current process and recommended improvements.
• All relevant future state (to-be) models. "
First I want to show an executive summary no more than 250 words and outling what improvements can be made to the business.
Second , show an introduction
Third , i want to show the problems with the current process and recomment improvements.
After , to discuss the technologies which you recommend in your project models to improve this company and , the technologies are CRM, KM, RFID, EPR, MPR II and any other technology. For these technologies need to present the reason to choose them and also to write what is it suitable to implement in this company and why and how . Also , for this part I want to present case studies and references.
Next, from analysis of various manufacturing organisations , produce an organisation chart , eEPC and any other models you consider relevant which would facilitate good communication and enhance current business practices with SMS.
