I have a surf forecast app (React Native / Expo) and the notification feature is not working properly. I need a developer to fix it. How it should work: the user sets a time, and every day at that time gets a notification with the surf summary for their spots. Tapping the notification should open a screen in the app showing that day's conditions. The current problems: The notification arrives late, a few minutes after the scheduled time When the user taps it, the app opens but shows nothing, no summary appears It does not work when the app is fully closed On iOS it is especially unreliable So right now the feature is basically unusable. There is already a backend that generates the summaries, and the app also uses a third-party push service for other notifications, which may be part of the conflict. I am open to your proposal on the best way to fix it, so in your bid please tell me how you would solve it. To close the job I need: 1. The notification arriving on time, on both iOS and Android 2. Tapping it reliably opening the summary screen with the day's data, even from a closed app 3. A short video showing it working on a real device, iOS and Android Looking for someone with real experience in React Native / Expo and push notifications, especially getting notifications to work reliably when the app is closed.

Hi, This looks like a timing and deep-link/state issue rather than a simple push bug. If the app opens but the summary screen is empty, the notification payload and screen hydration logic may not be aligned. The third-party push service could also be interfering with Expo notification handling, especially on iOS. I’d start by tracing the full flow from scheduled push to payload content, tap event, navigation, and summary fetch/render. I’d confirm whether the screen data is passed in the notification or reloaded after open, then fix closed-app behavior, token handling, and platform-specific delivery differences. I’d also verify whether the “late” delivery is caused by the scheduler, push provider, or device-side handling. Initial focus: - Review current Expo push setup - Inspect notification payload and tap handler - Fix deep link and screen-opening flow - Make closed-app launch reliable - Test delivery on iOS and Android Quick question: is the daily surf summary included directly in the push payload, or does the app fetch it from the backend after tap?

Hey there, A reliable notification system is what makes this feature valuable and the issues you've described point to how background delivery and deep linking are currently being handled. I can fix the delayed notifications, make them work consistently on both iOS and Android, and ensure tapping a notification always opens the correct summary screen even when the app is fully closed. I'll review the Expo notification flow, background tasks, push token handling, deep linking, and check for conflicts with the existing third party push service. If needed, I'll recommend a cleaner notification architecture that improves reliability without affecting your current backend. I'll also verify timezone handling, notification scheduling, app lifecycle events, and navigation so the daily surf summary is delivered at the right time and the correct data loads every time. Before wrapping up, I'll test everything on real iOS and Android devices and provide a short video showing on time delivery, background behavior, and successful navigation from a closed app. Let's discuss the current implementation and get it working the way it should. Best Regards, Tilal

Hi, I will fix your surf forecast app so the daily notification fires at the exact user-set time, opens the summary screen with that day's conditions on tap, and works reliably even when the app is fully closed on both iOS and Android. On a similar Expo project, replacing the local scheduling approach with a server-side push trigger eliminated the late delivery issue entirely. I will deliver the fix plus the real device video walkthrough you need to close this out. Questions: 1) Which third-party push service is the app already using (OneSignal, Firebase, or something else)? 2) Are you on Expo managed workflow or have you ejected to bare? Share your repo access and I will diagnose the iOS timing conflict today. Kamran

I'm a senior developer with 20+ years of experience, Top Rated on Freelancer with 1,500+ completed projects and a 5-star record, and I've fixed push notification issues in React Native/Expo apps dozens of times. I'll review your existing notification setup to identify why timing and deep link handling fail on iOS/Android, then migrate to Expo’s latest notification service which resolves background app wake-up issues. I’ll configure precise scheduled notifications using Expo’s task manager to ensure they fire on time, then implement payload structure so tapping the notification triggers the summary screen with the correct day’s data via deep linking. For iOS specifically, I’ll verify push certificate validity and background mode permissions—common failure points—and test on real devices since simulator behavior differs. Once stable, I’ll provide a short video demonstrating correct functionality on both platforms. I can start immediately.

Hello, I have worked on React Native and Expo apps with scheduled push notifications, deep links, and cold-start handling. Your issue points to scheduling drift, missing notification payload routing, and a possible conflict between Expo notifications and the third-party push service. I would audit the current notification flow, then fix the daily trigger, payload data, and navigation path so tapping opens the correct surf summary from a closed app. I would test on real iOS and Android devices and provide a short video showing the notification arriving on time and opening that day's conditions. Best regards, Teo

Your notification flow is failing at the two points that matter most: precise delivery and cold-start deep linking. The likely conflict between Expo and the existing push provider must be isolated before more users miss daily forecasts. I’ll audit the full notification lifecycle—from backend payload and scheduling to iOS/Android delivery, app-killed handling, and navigation hydration—then implement one reliable flow instead of overlapping services. You’ll get: • On-time daily alerts on iOS and Android • Reliable delivery when the app is closed • Tap-to-open routing to the correct daily summary • Safe payload handling with summary IDs and fallback fetching • Conflict cleanup between Expo and the third-party provider • Real-device verification videos for both platforms ⭐ I bring 5–6 years of React Native experience, including Expo, FCM/APNs, background behavior, deep links, and production debugging across iOS and Android. ⭐ The key decision is whether summaries should be scheduled server-side or locally; I’ll confirm that from your current architecture and preserve the strongest parts of the existing setup. Which push provider is currently running alongside Expo Notifications? Best regards, Einnovention

I have strong experience with React Native, Expo, iOS/Android push notifications, deep linking, background delivery, and closed-app navigation. I would first identify whether the delay and routing issues come from Expo Notifications, the third-party push provider, backend scheduling, or conflicting handlers. I’ll then unify the notification flow, ensure correct payload data is sent, configure reliable deep linking into the daily summary screen, and handle cold-start navigation when the app is fully closed. I’ll test on real iOS and Android devices and provide a short video showing on-time delivery and correct summary opening from foreground, background, and terminated states.

Hi there, Your Expo/React Native notifications are drifting late, losing payload on tap, and failing from a fully closed app. I’ve spent the last 4 years solving exactly this type of push/deep-link issue. I’ve rebuilt unreliable notification flows for two mobile apps, including one where iOS delivery and cold-start routing were both fixed in production. The real risk here is not the summary API itself; it’s the handoff between push delivery, app lifecycle, and navigation state. With Expo, third-party push services, and iOS background limits in the mix, it’s easy to get a notification that arrives but cannot restore the right screen state. I’ll trace the current push path end to end, isolate the third-party service conflict, and verify whether scheduling should be server-driven or local. Then I’ll fix payload structure, deep-link routing, and cold-start data hydration so the summary screen opens with the correct day’s conditions. I’ll test on real iPhone and Android devices and record a short demo video showing scheduled delivery and tap-through behavior. Best regards, John allen.

Hey there! You’ve got a React Native/Expo surf forecast app where scheduled notifications are late, don’t deep-link to the summary, and fail when the app is fully closed (iOS worst). I’ll fix the whole flow end-to-end: scheduling, delivery, and opening the exact “day conditions” screen with the right payload. I’ve worked on Expo/React Native push and background behavior, including iOS delivery quirks. - Confirm your current push provider setup (and whether local scheduling vs remote scheduled pushes are used) - Fix timing drift (proper scheduling + timezone handling) - Make notification taps reliably open the summary even from a terminated state (correct deep-linking/initial URL handling) - Ensure the tap payload triggers fetching the correct day’s summary Timeline: I can start immediately and deliver a working build + iOS/Android demo video within a few days.
