Need Native English editors to edit scientific and medical papers/documents. Must have Native English ability. Pay is $.01/English word. A trial edit will be required. We need experienced writers only please. Editing involves not only spell checking but revising grammar and sentence structure where necessary. In some cases, rearrangement of sentences may also be necessary. You must have a deep undrstanding of scientific issues in order to edit well. Those who submit the trial with mistakes will not be selected. Those who apply should not make mistakes in their grammar in their cover letter or they will not be selected. Those who pass the test and prove themselves reliable will have steady and constant work.
Those who are able to edit between 20-40 pages of English text a day are preferable. Ph.D.s are preferable.
Please note that this is a SCIENCE and MEDICAL editing position. You need to understand medical and scientific techniques and concepts. This means having worked in a lab or gone on rounds in a hospital. A general understanding of science or having experience once of hanging out in a hospital is not enough. Also, please note that we need mistake-free proofing. Sending me a cover message full of mistakes requesting that I give you a chance has no meaning. If the cover letter is full of mistakes, why should I expect a test article or a real job to suddenly come back in perfect form? Please do not waste your time by sending a message unless your English is at a suitable level.
Please apply to this position by writing a short cover letter. I will be assessing your ability partly based on this cover letter. If you have some experience editing scientific papers but do not have an advanced technical degree (Ph.D), then please pick out any molecular biology paper and a phase III clinical trial paper from medline and look through it before you apply. If you can readily understand them, including techniques and specialized terminology used, then by all means, apply. If you are struggling with it, then its probably best to pass on this job.
People, if you do not immediately see what is wrong with the following sentence I encourage you to pass on this job.
