You have been hired as a schedule consultant to provide a schedule update for the West Side Parking Garage project. The client gave you the Baseline xer file and the following information about the status of the project as of April 1, 2026. Notice to Proceed for the Project was given on March 2, 2026. The drawings were submitted on March 4, 2026. Review/Approval of Shop Drawings took 2 days longer than the planned duration. Elevator procurement started on March 16, 2026 and is 10 percent complete. The Site Survey started on March 3, 2026 and completed on March 5, 2026. Mobilization started on March 3, 2026 and proceeded as planned. Activity WPG-1208 Mass Excavation started on March 17, 2026 and is 20 percent complete. The contractor encountered an unforeseen condition and had to stop mass excavation on March 25, 2026. Excavation is forecasted to re-start April 3, 2026. In addition, at the update meeting, the Owner notified you that they were considering adding EV charging stations to the parking garage. This would require additional design, conduit & cable installation and EV charging installation & testing. New activities required are: Design – EV Charging Stations (15 WDs) Submit Shop Drawings – EV Charging Stations (10 WDs) Review Shop Drawings – EV Charging Stations (7 WDs) Fabricate and Deliver – Conduit & Cable (10 WDs) Fabricate and Deliver – EV Charging Stations (20 WDs) Install Conduit & Cable for EV Charging Stations (10 WDs) Install EV Charging Stations / Terminations (10 WDs) Test EV Charging Stations (3 WDs) Assume that design starts on April 13, 2026. Create a Fragnet for the proposed change to evaluate any schedule impacts and include in your update report. Be sure this is on a five day calendar. Lab Deliverables: Submit all electronically on Brightspace (combined pdf file for items 1-4 below and item 5 as a separate file.) 1. A typed narrative discussing a description of the project, changes compared to the Baseline, the critical path, and major milestones, etc. Include a description of the Fragnet/proposed changes and any potential impacts. 2. A printed Gantt chart showing all activities by WBS with appropriate columns. 3. A printed Gantt chart showing only the critical path with appropriate columns. 4. A printed Fragnet for the proposed change. (The fragnet is a different file with a WBS labeled “Fragnet 1” or the activities are coded & filtered as Fragnet 1.) 5. Electronic copy of your schedule (.xer file). Make sure your Gantt charts are formatted correctly so that the information is legible, and the columns are only one page wide. Chart titles must also be included. You may discuss different approaches for the project with fellow classmates; however, each student must submit their own work product for this lab.
