I am interested in pursuing an app that can facilitate the hiring of skilled and unskilled workers in the construction industry. My first objective is to facilitate laborers for hire and add further categories there after. I have grown up in the construction arena- my father is a contractor that builds and remodels homes, my grandfather started and ran a wholesale building supplies business which is now run by his son and son in law. I also ran a deconstruction business salvaging old barns and structures for six plus years. Even if I didn't want to do or know construction I really had no option as I was engrained in it in my upbringing. this has brought a lot of insight as to the needs and processes that are still apart of the industry. I have a tons of ideas for this industry but one often heard statement is that it is hard to find and keep good workers/talent. Most constructions occupations are demanding and require a lot of effort and persistence. I have been on both side of the fence as I've been a worker with little skin in the game and on the owner side with all my skin in the game. This experience has allowed me to see some missing components that would assist in maintaining a strong, stable workforce. As an employer I have dealt with workers issues from having their electric shut off to my car is broken to just plain lack of execution. I have also dealt with employers that pay low, treat there workers like dog shit and simply don't allow much ownership of how they work. The app id like to create would alleviate most if not all the pitfalls of current practice. The app would empower both worker and employer. The exchange would be mutually beneficial as the app would connect worker with an employer that has agreed to pay rate and skill. The employer would be empowered as he has no longterm liability associated with hiring and maintaining enough work to keep said employee busy with busywork. The key differentiator between this app and most work apps that don't work or scale is the time it takes to use. like any industry, time is money and vice versa. The employer in our app would set up his profile with what he'd pay for each type of worker either hourly or by gig. This would alleviate him having to do this every time he needs a worker for just an hour. he could simply click laborer, time, location. The worker would have also set his profile to his own preferences regarding pay and work area. the app would simply match profiles that agree to the same inputs, thus the owner would get a pop up showing the employees profile and the employee would get a pop up with the employer and where he is needed with time/date. the app would facilitate the payment of said workers through the employer setting up a bank act. and the employee setting up a bank act. and connecting to the app. The app would generate revenue based on a percentage of payments between employers and employees. the above is a simplistic over view of what the app is. There are plenty of add-ons id like to facilitate for users such as uber/lyft for employees needed rides and bank options. The app is and alternative to temp agencies and/or hiring full time employees and for employees who are tired of being employees and/or need help facilitating there own work for various contractors. There are apps that facilitate work and/or gigs but none have yet impacted the construction industry at a very high level thus that is why I believe I can facilitate the right methods and processes that take into account the actual way in which the construction industry operates. Its making the contractors and workers more aligned in what ever project they need done which saves a ton of time and money while empowering both parties involved.
