I’m preparing a commercially published journal and need a set of realistic illustrations that will live alongside the articles. Because each piece is rooted in local experience, I’d like to work with an artist who is already in or near Pawling, NY—anywhere in Dutchess County works—so we can meet, review drafts in person, and capture the regional character accurately. The illustrations must be realistic, not stylised or cartoonish. Core scenes revolve around people coping with hardship after an accident, including the visual detail of a cane and the subtle emotions that come with recovery and living with a TBI . Authenticity is critical; I want readers to feel the weight of the moment without it becoming melodramatic. Here’s how I see the collaboration: • We’ll agree on the number of pieces and the dimensions once you’ve reviewed the manuscript pages. • Rough sketches first, then a single round of revisions before you move to final artwork. • Finals supplied as high-resolution CMYK TIFFs (300 dpi) ready for print, plus layered PSD or Procreate files for archiving. If you have a portfolio that shows lifelike figure work—especially anything portraying resilience or medical themes—please share it. I’m ready to start as soon as we confirm the fit and timeline.
