I’m looking for a PHP coder (with Imagick experience) to take over from a freelancer who went AWOL. The majority of the code for this project has been written, we think it’s around 90% complete. This means you could either take over the code that’s been created or you could start it from scratch.
In a nutshell we need a plug-in which combines jpeg and dynamic tiff files on different pages and then produces a final PDF, which the user can then purchase as a download as a PDF or they can be sent a hard copy, in which case a PDF needs to be sent to a third party printing company (with order info) of our choosing.
We’re a customisable football comic business, with our main aim to put the main user inside the comic. The idea is that a user will go onto our website and then navigate to the page of their favourite football team.
The user can then choose the following.
1. An all-male or all-female version of the comic.
a. We have a male and female version of every team that we’re listing
2. The first name and surname of the main character
a. This will be populated throughout the comic at set places
(the previous freelancer did create a system for this)
3. A special message
a. This will be on the third page of the comic
4. The eye, skin and hair colour of the main character
Once the user has inputted these options he/she can then hit the preview button and see a page of the comic, with the choices that they’ve made.
The user can then choose to buy a digital or physical version of the product.
STEP 4 – OPTION 1
IF the user chooses to buy a digital version of the comic, then they need to be sent a PDF of the comic once they’ve completed payment.
STEP 4 – OPTION 2
IF the user chooses to buy a physical version of the comic, then we need the plug-in to convert the comic into a PDF and then send this PDF by email, with order details, to a third-party printing company.
Here’s an example page which was worked on (but not completely finished)

Previous tests with the software have been run, where the PDF comic has been fully produced, from the users choices.
Please note that there an unknown bug had occurred with the software, which was waiting to be fixed by the previous freelancer.
Each page of the comic is made up of several layers. A base layer (jpeg), dynamic layers (tiff) and a top layer (jpeg). The software has been set up to combine these layers based on the user’s choices and to produce the final PDF.
The freelancer did say that he would create a queuing system. Whereby when a user places an order, the plugin would queue the processing of the PDF, so that the user can complete payment, without having to wait for the PDF to be processed. It’s unknown if this has been finished at this stage. If it hasn’t it would need to be completed.
SUFFIX FOR FEMALE VERSION
Additionally the freelancer said that he created a way for the assets for the female version of the comic, to be quickly assigned to the correct comic pages once the assets for the male version have been uploaded. This was by creating a suffix “-female”. It’s unknown at this stage if this was completed or not.
The plugin created by the previous freelancer is attached for perusal.
