We are a scientific laboratory from a Brazilian university and we want to create a website to tell what we do in the laboratory and to tell what our folks do. We also want to create blog posts to share what we know with others. Sometimes, we are responsible for holding scientific events and we think that having a website that can help us with that will be useful. We think that a website +/- like this is what we need.
Home: Latest posts, events, news, etc.
Blog: Blog section
Members: a page showing the members of the laboratory organized by their roles (undergraduate students, graduate students, researchers, etc.). Each member of the laboratory will have his/her own page, were they will be able to write a summary about themselves and link their account with other social media websites, including ResearchGate and Google Scholar. In the member website, his/her blog posts should also be shown.
Events: allows us to create event specific pages, such as [login to view URL] We might charge for tickets. Events may also have events inside themselves, that might be charged separated, we would like something like [login to view URL] The event website should show feature speakers/presenter, etc. To participate and buy tickets, the user needs to be registered in the website and we have several custom questions for the user. In some events, we will ask users to submit a paper. This paper will then be sent for reviewers, who will approve, disapprove, or ask for a revision. Approved papers will be hosted online and we will need a way to search for these papers. Examples of events we want to organize are short-courses and scientific meetings.
We would prefer to have the website built in WordPress and the functionalities be implemented as plugins so that we are free to change the theme of the site whenever we need.
The website has to be multilingual. We are planning on using polylang plugin to achieve that for the front end but we are open for other possible solutions.
