I have a small (128Gb) server running Ubuntu 16, which holds one website.
Total disk space used is 4Gb.
The server is hosted in my office on a Dell Latitude Laptop.
There are 3 aspects to this job,
1. I have lost the password, and need someone to help me recover it or reset it.
I can sometimes boot into GRUB mode, but then when I try to make a change, it asks me for a password, which I don't have.
But I can get into BIOS setup and there seem to be various password options there.
Hopefully you can coach me over S_K_Y_P_E to get going again.
2. After the password is reset or recovered, I want someone to to make a bootable backup of the entire Ubuntu installation and website onto a USB drive that is attached to the machine. I also want to know the script that you will use to achieve this, so I can repeat the process myself on other drives.
3. For future backups, I want a script that I can run from a Ubuntu Terminal window., that backs up all the files that have changes since the last backup.
4. The job is complete when I can boot from the USB drive and the website loads and functions OK.

hi! I have a good experience with linux systems. there are some ways to reset the password, but I think You'll need the live-cd/usb drive with any linux. also it is easy to backup the system partition
I can help you get going again, but from your post I am not sure about the other parts you are asking for. Getting your password fixed is ok, and maybe some other parts, so better to discuss
