Currently have a Magento site that deals with export customers but we do not ship abroad. All our international customers arrange their own collections from us and we have a lot. Almost all orders go onto pallets. However, the customers need to know the weight and dimensions of their order on pallets before they can find a courier to collect it for them. We do not have time to manually do this.
We are looking to create a similar tool like this: [url removed, login to view] but which I can pass the volumetric information to the calculator via command line or API. Unlike the example above, the end user must not have to key in the data manually, but the calculator will be auto populated from the pre-populated Magento product information. I don't want this to be a manual process. There will be 2 pallets sizes and then single box sizes.
The solution must have the following features:
1) Determine which will be the best packing algorithm for the products on the pallets based on rules
2) Show a 3D picture as to how the pallet should be packed, by colour coding each box.
3) Work as a integrated module or extension for Magento CE 1.9.2.x
4) Have an export function so that we can attach the results to order emails either manually or automatically. Must be in PDF & CSV formats
So in a nutshell if a customer adds 10 items to their shopping cart all in different sizes, as well as seeing the products they will also see a picture of the number of pallets and boxes their order will be , together with the dimensions and the weights. The customer will then find their own courier based on this information.
