Ecommerce Category and categories database

Hi, I have my own project related to E-commerce site in Laravel, one category and subcategories sections it might need involved with a small program.
Currently, we have our own a list of Categories using id number and subcategories using id number in MySQL.
As an administration, we currently have input new category name and automatically create id number and subcategories create id number one by one.
When we adding new items, we selected category and subcategories from the drop menu, before continue to add other information to the same items.
I'm looking for way process update fast instead of one by one, We have a list of data in database using excel or MySQL from the wholesaler that showed the list of items, price category, subcategories, etc... this information relates to each item, those categories lists do not match with our database, they only use category name but not id number.
I'm looking for a way when importing the data into MySQL or Ms excel whichever is the best option, and then once imported data, start automatically update :
1) add new item id number.
2) processing scan and update our own categories (ID) number and subcategories ID number
3) add new category and categories along with new id number (if is not exit under our category database).
it can be processed from MS excel before importing to MySQL, or process from MySQL, which is best for Laravel or HTML.
