Current problem is a slowness issue in an online db that runs on an old version of PHP & MySQL. Recently had a programmer make some changes and the db now runs much too slow to be useful. Need someone who can find and fix whatever problem was created. If successful, much more work is available on this db as far as upgrade features we want to implement. Need slowness issued fixed first and fixed ASAP. Access will be given to the server on request.

Thanks to all who have responded. I will try to answer all the various questions here and after receiving responses from everyone, will then choose a coder. The slowness is just the first issue. Once fixed, I need a programmer (PHP & MySQL) who can fix glitches in the current db, as well as add several expanded and new features. I expect there to be approx 3-6 months of work to be completed in phases. If you think you can handle both the problems and the expansion, please do respond as I'd like to keep the same coder throughout the upgrade if possible. Once a coder is chosen, full access will be given to the server. The current db is running on PHP v4 and can be upgraded. I'm not sure to which version, and I'm not sure if PHPMyAdmin is installed, but am checking with my host now. I know it's a db problem as all html pages are quick to load. The site is "split" into a non-secured and secured site. It was not built properly in the first place and I believe a lot of problems stem from the external and internal sides not being properly separated. The site is www.eordb.com. Temporary login is infoeor / jordie1301. This expires 9/25/07. Please experiment with all searches once logged in. Some searches are still working at the correct speed, but some are very slow and these need to be fixed as this is an information site for libraries and bookstores all over the world and time is an issue when they have customers waiting. The admin side is much slower than the user side, but I believe you will see the problem I'm referring to by trying all the user searches. I will give admin access to the coder chosen to fix the problem. I'm told by my host that they have done extensive testing on the server and it is not on their end, it is something to do with the db itself. I recently hired a programmer who was paid several thousand dollars and has now disappeared leaving me with a site that runs slower than it did before and all the glitches still in place. I have no way of knowing what he has done to the site so can't even give you a starting point. Thank you, Melanie Grant
