I own a Microsoft Media Center Edition 2005 PC, and have been dubbing some personal recordings to the computer. Though it will accept multiple video inputs, the only way it seems to encode them to .dvr-ms (microsofts proprietary video format), is if you do manual recordings. The problem with this, is most times the recordings wont play back. A "This Content Has Expired" blue screen of death will display, because media center thinks I did a manual recording of say ABC, or CBS, because that was the channel the TV was on, when I did my dubbing. Media Center only records to .dvr-ms files when it thinks its recording a television show on a TV channel. Of course it reads the broadcast flags of the underlying television show or network, which is why my content is showing as expired.
I'm looking for a .dvr-ms to .dvr-ms converter. It seems as if the underlying video content in the original .dvr-ms file is there, you can sporadically see images of the video, though 99% of the time you see the blue screen "This Content Has Expired". I wan't to see if its possible where I can copy these broken .dvr-ms files and turn them into playable .dvr-ms files, with possibly no expiration date, so media center doesnt give me a problem with these files again.
