Humanity in Crisis is a project that some of my High School buddies and I thought up. Here is the short description: Humanity in Crisis is a global problem tracker. It catalogs all of the problems which are facing humanity. Then, users can discuss the problems and suggest solutions.
My thinking is that the first step in creating a better world is identifying all of the problems which are facing us. Just to get a nice, simple list. Then once humanity has an idea of the critical problems facing us, we'll be able to start taking some real action towards improving all of our lives.
If this idea interests you, take a look at the attached .doc file. I have an outline of my ideas there.
There are two options, as I see it:
1. Program this website from the ground up
2. Take an existing bug tracker PHP script and then modify it to our needs
Anyhow, here are some things which would need to be done:
-Dynamic rating and comment system
-User accounts and user control panel
-Donations system (can probably use a preexisting script for this, but we would need to integrate it into the user control panel).
-Complete website design, modeled after [url removed, login to view] (attached). I only have a design layout for the index page currently.
-Most variables would need to be easily modifiable (there could be a config file which could contain all of the key values, like site title etc)
There may be more skills necessary, but I am not a programmer. All I have is the idea.
The creation of this website would allow for the designer to have some creative interpretation of my instructions. As long as you get the basics down, you can customize the website however you think it will work best.
Btw I already have the hosting/domain covered.
One last thing, we *are* just high school students so we aren't bathing in money. The max we can spend on this is $250. But if this website turns out to be a success, whoever helped make it will get a percentage of the ad revenue.
