I run a child care agency which is fairly similar to [url removed, login to view] in principle, but which matches private nannies and child carers with families on skiing holidays in the Alps.
Nannies register their details by creating a profile on the website
Parents post their requirements for their holiday (no of hours, details of children etc)
The site sends an email to all nannies saying can you do this job
Those that want it apply via the site which then sends their profiles to the parents
Parents pick who they want and pay a deposit via paypal
The site sends both nanny and parent a contract
After the holiday the site emails the parent for feedback which automatically gets added to the nannies profile
I had the site built by someone I found through a website similar to this over 6 months ago. He told me it would take 2 weeks, but was very unreliable and the original brief is still not completed. The site is up and running but still not working correctly.
I have also got some new ideas of how to improve and develop the site having used it in it's current form for a few months.
So I am looking for someone who can in the first instance get the existing site functioning properly, which will involve exploring how it is currently set up and fixing a few specific problems. My current developer says this will only take a few hours, but I don't know how accurate that is, given his unreliability.
I would like this done as soon as possible because the ski season is well under way and I am losing valuable clients all the time it is broken. Also I am a bit scarred by my previous experience so am only interested in working with someone who is able to devote their time to it full time to start with to get it working asap, and who is happy to communicate via phone or skype to resolve any questions quickly rather than things dragging out for days in email conversations.
The next stage will be the further development and improvement of the site, and I honestly don't know how long this will take because I have a list of ideas which vary in complexity and importance, so it would be ideal if you were happy to get to know the current site very well at the first stage, and contribute your own ideas and expertise then we could develop a plan of action together.
The site is built in html and php and has an sql database and is on the Easyspace server.
I currently make basic changes in dreamweaver and have a very basic understanding of html and php but no idea how the sql database works. There is also an external site which executes CRON jobs.
I hope that this is enough information to start with. The current site is at [url removed, login to view] and I can email the original brief, my list of current problems and ideas for the future to anyone who is keen to work on the site.
Following previous experiences, I am only interested in working with people in the UK timezone who have English as their first language.
