We currently use dot net remoting in our intranet; now we want to allow clients to access specific services via the internet, and therefore we need to ensure that only specific clients can access these services. Each client gets a username + password. Only clinets with valid username + client may access serverside objects. On the serverside we want to have a security manager object where we can add and remove users (it is not necessary to write database accces for user administration, we can do that ourselves also). We also want to be able to restrict the access of users by type of the serverside-class. We are not experts in the inside of dot net remoting, but basically what needs to be done is to build a custom channel where username and password are transmitted, so that he access can be verified. If a user is not authorized or has sent a wrong password, the client application must be able to recognise 1) username/password wrong and 2) not authorized for this service, so that the client side applications handle these two cases. We need a Visual Studio 2003 Project with all source that works on our system. The project may not use settings files, the channel configuration has to be done via code. If this works, we need follow on projects that track access of serverside applications by user / date and time, etc.
