We use a patient name and date/time for naming data files. A client in Israel, with the Hebrew character set, saves files fine. Suppose a file is named "ABCD 08/24/04", but the "ABCD" is in Hebrew characters.
Using WinXP and VB6 SP3, the CommonDialog open mode displays the file names in Hebrew OK, but upon selecting a file, the .filename is "???? 08/24/04" and thus, the string returned by .filename cannot be used to open the file.
When using a FileList box, the displayed file names are filled with "?", even though I've changed the font to Arial (unicode) and the .[url removed, login to view] from 0 to 255.
I need a way to retreive the actual unicode filename from the CommonDialog.
Ideally, it would also be of benefit to be able to view and select these filenames from a FileListBox also.
Of course, after hours of searching the net, I am more than pleased to pay for the answer!
I just need code listings and explanations of how the code works. I'm frustrated trying various tactics that failed.
XP and 2000, but code must be in VB6
