I have a VB program. It is pretty standard--it consists of an .exe, a database (.dat) file, and a folder (AppPath)\AIMimages where there are about 450 images (.gif/.jpg). I want to distribute the app. I made a vb setup using the vb setup toolkit, but it handles the installation of the 450+ images very poorly. it takes forever! So, what I want you to do is to do this: write a setup routine in your favorite setup language / compiler / environment for this project. make the install snazzy and easy, as this program will be downloaded by common people. Ideally, you will provide this in such a way that I can modify it later, as the .exe, .database, and number and nature of the images is likely to change in future sub-versions. Even more ideally, I will be able to re-build the installation without having to buy your install-maker tool but just by putting stuff into some .zip/.cab/whatever files and modifying some .ini/.txt/.lst files or whatever. I have included the [url removed, login to view] file from my project in the included .zip files. You will notice that the file size/date of all the images is the same--this is artificial. my plan was to make a standard vb setup and then use winzip self-extracting .exe maker to make it into a one-file download. a one-file-download is still a good idea, though I'm open to suggestions. the files are about 20mb compressed and about 55 uncompressed. I can put the 20mb in a .zip file for you on some server if you need it. this should be a relatively easy project. help me make a great and easy to use setup!
as described above. no gpl, please.
some setup-maker program.
