I was told this wasn't possible in VB6, but here we go anyway... I need a solution that can ping many IP's at once (up to 255) and wait for a response. If a response is found, my app. needs to know about it. A regular VB timer to monitor the ping responses would be adequate. I also need to be able to terminate the pings at the user's request. If possible I'd like each thread to return the hostname (host name resolution) if a computer was found. If the ping was successful, but no computer found, it should return some other value so my app. can display an error to the user. The main purpose is to be able to ping many machines while my app. continues to respond to the user. A C++/VB hybrid solution may also be accepted via an OCX/DLL providing it can be registered by the VB exe at startup. Note: This should be a standard VB app., not an ActiveX EXE.
