This project consist of changing the PO-ID’s and Vendor Id’s of a group of records that were incorrectly entered into an inventory system. The problem is that each vendor who is also a customer should have his vendor id created from the prefix “CP-“ and his actual customer number. The CP means customer Purchase Order. By accident the user created normal vendor id’s for all the customers who were also vendors. We need a program created to make, find and replace the bad PO-ID’s and Vendor ID’s with new ones properly [url removed, login to view] vendor number consist of : [CP-] + [customer #]
The PO-ID consist of: [CP-] + [customer #] + [-] + [the actual PO #] Example: CP-12345-1234
Once these vendors ID and po-id’s are created then your program needs to find each instance of the old vendor ID and old po-id and replace it with the properly formatted new ones.
There are multiple tables that contain these po-ids and vendor-ids and your program should search for them and replace each and every instance of these codes with the proper ones. The data you have to work with is only a small sampling of the actual data to be updated but if your program works on the sampling it will work on the real stuff.
**_Actually we have already identified each customer and made the new po_id for these customers. So the vendor table actually has the old vendor id and the new vendor id that are to be used. So that part is very easy.._**
