I'll try to be as brief as I can on the back story. Essentially, I hired a web developer and he took my money and never finished the project. The good part is that he completed a decent amount of it. I would say it is around 70% complete. The bad part is that he really didn't do a good/complete job on some of the things that are in place. I believe that it is built in PHP. He created a back-end admin site to manage a lot of the things, and while I do like a lot of the things he did on there, there are a lot of problems as well. So here's what I'm looking for:
I need someone that can look over the work that the previous web developer did and asses the situation. I have a list of all the things that I have found to be wrong with the site (so far), or that was never even completed. I will upload that file on here. It is long, but a lot of it is a bit repetitive (just trying to be very descriptive). Some changes are as simple as changing the font color, while others things just don't work at all and may need to be re-done. A note about me; I am very open to new ideas, suggestions, and critiques. I want to give you a lot of room to express your style, and try new ideas. Another thing about me is that I am fairly proficient with Photoshop, so if you need me to work on any images, example screen shots, etc, I am very able to help in those areas. I am readily available to take phone calls, emails, text messages, anything. I encourage communication.
You can view the website as it stands at: [url removed, login to view]
As for the changes, I recommend you read through the document, but to try and sum it up for reference, I see the following as the 6 key parts:
1) Digital Magazine with a functional, easy-to-use uploading tool in the admin area.
2) Web Banners throughout the site with an easy to manage back-end tool so that I can update frequently myself.
3) Message Board creation.
4) Flash Intro, which I will need your help creating the concept. I would like to incorporate a virtual host that reads a welcome message.
5) Layout changes, mainly to the Home Page, and mostly cosmetic.
6) SEO help.
The site is automotive in theme, but needs to be built with social networking as its primary function. I would prefer to choose someone with experience working on social media sites, and someone who can give advice on how to tailor my site better for that function. Also, since I was already ripped off once, I hope you will understand that I will be very cautious in choosing my next web developer. I will ask that we sign a contract, and I will expect regular communication and updates. If you can not communicate with me on almost a daily basis then please do not bid on this project. Also, if you do not have ideas of your own that you will feel comfortable proposing to me, then also do not bid on this project. I want a partner who sees opportunities for my site, and wants to make it better than I ever imagined. As for long-term work, this is just Phase 1 of my website. Depending on how things go, I will be hiring someone to create other features for my site within the year. My timeline for completion is 30 days.
