I need an experienced Java programmer to modify an existing open source J2ME IRC chat midlet and J2EE IRC chat server, to support simple XML message exchange in both directions, and binary file exchange from server to client. I have studied the code extensively and know the exact approach I want to take, but do not have the time available to do the project in needed time frame. This project will be a snap for a Java programmer with network experience, especially in the area of http proxy server function and basic socket connections.
Deliverables for this project are the modifed open source midlet and server code with XML demonstration commands that show typical application of the different message cases.
See attached more detail description..
The major tasks of this project are:
1) adding XML parser to midlet and defining the XML demonstration commands.
Some existing IRC functions can be used as demonstration commands.
2) Modifying server protocol to support receipt and processing of the XML commands and binary fetch command on the same socket connection.
3) Some server command processing and implementing a few server custom commands.
4) Some midlet command processing - enough to demonstrate all of the message cases (i.e. multiple messages in one http fetch, random incoming and outgoing messages, xml server to client communicating image to fetch and client image fetch and return. Good knowledge of Xml pull parsing and use of kxml2 parser needed here.
