A manufacturer of LED displays needs a new software application for creating and editing text pages for LED screens. Phase two of the software has been planned to include graphic pages and animations. A copy of the existing software will be available as a guideline.
The support should be user friendly and well laid out. Clear instructions and a help file should be included.
The LED screen software will need to support the following features:
1. Support multiple displays.
a. Add a display
b. Remove a display
2. Each display should be individually configurable
a. Rename display
b. Display address
c. Number of text lines
d. Number of characters per line (fixed width character)
e. Language table (English, Hebrew etc)
f. Colour selection (Red, Red/Green, Red/Green/Blue)
g. V1 / V2 Display – See definitions
h. Communication interface (Serial cable, TCP/IP, Dial-Up modem, etc) each with its own configuration parameters (for ex 9600 Baud, 8 Data, 1 Stop, No parity for serial comms).
3. Each display will be able to support multiple text frames, each frame with the following requirements.
a. Page tempo
b. Visual effect (Appear, Slide, etc)
c. Schedule a page (Date / Time Range, Specific day of the week)
d. Enable clock / temperature
e. Center alignment of page
f. Bold letters, Enlarge letters, flash text
g. Special symbols
4. Display preview window
A preview window simulating the LED display should be available. The preview will share the same character table as the LED display, and needs to be rendered accordingly.
V1 Display – This display has 7 horizontal rows of pixels. More than one line can be used, but the mechanical limitation between lines limits the character height to 7. When BOLD mode is specified the height of the text stays 7 pixels, but every vertical column is copied. Please not that Bold may be used in conjunction with enlarge function.
V2 Display – This display has 16 horizontal rows of pixels. The text can be displayed as either 7 pixels high with 2 rows spacing followed by another 7 pixels of text. Text can also be displayed in BOLD mode where the text becomes 16 pixels high, and the vertical data is copied. Please not that Bold may be used in conjunction with enlarge function.
