We would like to automate our community events posting to an Iphone and Android App.. There are several community groups that send us their announcements of community events in their area via email. There is no set format of how the sender places information about their event. However, there is some similarity to the wording/syntax of how events are announced.
Basically this is the general workflow we would like to have:
1) The events coordinator registers a specific email with us. (i.e. )
2) When we receive an email from , a script reads the received mail and parse event details (i.e. Title of event, Description of Event Date/Time of Event, location of the event, contact information for event including phone number, email, website, cost of event(where applicable))
2) Automatically send an email email notice to the admin to say "Here's the email announcement from group ABCDEF Inc. that I just received, and, here's the event info that I parsed from it; please confirm by clicking "YES" to publish to the app now or manually edit and publish.
We have some flexibility for database in the back-end where the event information will be stored for publication to the iphone/android app.
A great example of the general concept of the parser can be found in a app for travel itineraries. The developer site provides a free example at [url removed, login to view] Please review the Worldmate API.
We would like to work with developers who have already made similiar email parser for community events as we are short on time and would like only those respondents that have this type of experience.
