What I'm wanting developed is a software program that can be hosted online (by any company on their intranet) to provide the below functionality (basically knowledge collection and display and for all that knowledge to be easily grouped by category and to be easil printed as a book if required).
I have a 830page Body of Knowledge document written for a specific industry. I have a website and basic functions developed on it but need something either built or developed to provide the following functionality - expect through exiting software this should be fairly simple but may need some tweaking/developing:
Develop a website that gives users 2 primary entry options: "Do you want to SEARCH or do you want to CONTRIBUTE to this particular Body of Knowledge". If they search then we develop something like an access data base where they enter a definition and like in [url removed, login to view] that definition or definitions are displayed for them. Also what I'd like displayed is maybe a map or diagram that helps explain the definition. If they chose 'contribute' then a different screen appears like a contact form where they enter the title of the definition they want to add or amend from the SCBOK, they enter the text about that defintion, they upload a map or diagram to support this. This info is then automatically (and this is important) sent to 5 different email addresses (universities around the world) . In this email the university people have 2 buttons to choose after reading the information ... ACCEPT or REJECT. Based on this feedback the information entered will then be included in the SCBOK and displayed online if it comes up in a search or an email will be sent back to the person who inputted it to say thanks but sorry.
Built in to the back of all this is the ability to print all the information that has been contributed online into a book version - this is so the hard copy of the SCBOK can be sold annually as well as the online content. When people contribute a definition or anything online I need an incentive built in so they keep coming back and contributing - something like free advertising but maybe there is a more clever way of building in incentives - like a points system (like with facebook and LinkIn how they display how many connections or friends you have).
