In-Text Keyword Advertising Program

**Advertising startup in need of a flagship program.** Need a program that can scan a customer's website (e.g. a news website) and add hyperlinks to certain words on customers' websites. These hyperlinks will be links to advertising clients' websites. Need to be able to enable an extra feature that will pop up little balloons containing descriptions of the client's ad when the mouse cursor srcolls over a given word. e.g. CNN hires us to scan their website. An article on golf is at hand. Certain words like 'clubs' and 'courses' will be highlighted. When the cursor scrolls over 'clubs', a little balloon pops up showing where to buy the best clubs online. These ads can be brand-specific, especially if the article is doing a review. Hence a client can be Callaway Golf Products, and when 'clubs' is scrolled over, only Callaway club deals will appear on the balloon. This program should be primarily web-based. There should be three interfaces - one advanced interface for our company, and two simpler interfaces for customers and clients, so customers can customize what words are highlighted, how many per page, etc.; and clients can do things like track URLs where their ads are appearing, how much money they owe, etc. Profit will essentially be shared between our company and customers, with the majority of profit *going to customers*. (The company's web interface should have a mechanism to alter the profit sharing percentages between our company and each customer.) The closest current offering in existence is Google's AdSense, but instead of ads placed somewhere on the web page, we want to highlight certain words instead. Any questions, please ask. I will attempt to answer as many questions as possible here. So our main competitors would be Vibrant Media, Kontera, and In-Text. I do realize that my descriptions have been vague, but this has allowed me to get some great suggestions from great minds out there, in terms of improvements, innovative ideas, etc. OK, so balloon pop-ups are annoying. At first I was thinking of doing away with the balloons altogether, but this would inevitably reduce number of clicks. I also thought about delayed balloon pop-ups (like 2.5 seconds after scrolling over the word), and then charging the client for that delayed pop-up as an impression, if that makes sense. But now I realize that perhaps the way to go is to have an ad/balloon materialize on the page somewhere else, such as above another ad, but primarily, not above/on the text. Perhaps even have a crude arrow quickly point from the word to the ad to make that connection. This can't be more annoying than those floating ads that many websites now use that hovers above text until you close it. Also, one potential bidder reworded as follows: You want to be able to provide a configurable contextual ad link javascript to website owners that have signed up with you. They will have a web control panel they can configure the script with (like people can do with adsense). Advertisers that have signed up with you can add their products/links/keywords in their own control panel for the website owners to choose which are relevant to their website. Your company will have an admin control panel that has authority over the whole thing as well as the ability to adjust pay percentages. This is very accurate. Another bidder has suggested having embedded link in the customer's website that will load the software when their website is uploaded. Another bidder still has suggested that with the clubs example, there needs to be some sort of failsafe against nightclubs being put into a golf article instead of golf clubs, for instance. I apologize to these bidders for divulging their ideas, but for the sake of clarity, it is necessary. And of course, naturally you are now the frontrunners. The most convincing bids so far have come from people who *briefly* outline their experience, but then talk more about their ideas, timeframes, etc. I haven't yet come across a potential bidder with dismal experience, but I have come across a great variety of ideas and insights. I want your creativity as much as your expertise. As for using Javascript, that is a likely option, but it really is up to you. I know a little about web and software development, but I am sourcing a bid for a reason - I need your expertise and collaboration. Hope that answers most questions.
