I need a script that will pass along my unique Tracking IDs from my affiliate landing page, through a re-direct, and to my merchants' pages. My hosting will only enable PHP in "safe mode," and so it restricts what type of scripts I can run in PHP.
I can do a simple PHP code to grab the tracking ID and put it into my affiliate link, but it loses the Tracking ID when put through a re-direct.
IMPORTANT - Please note when making a bid request that I only need one page scripted. I have a script that will successfully take a tracking ID and place it into the link for the re-direct, I just need a script to take it from the re-direc to the merchant, and this is only one page. Thanks.
I'm an affiliate marketer and here's what I'm trying to do . . . Right now, I use PHP coding to give each of the keywords that I'm bidding on a unique tracking ID. With the PHP, it inserts the unique tracking ID into my affiliate link, and so I'm able to track which keywords are converting to the merchant, and more importantly, which are converting into sales.
I have great interest in using Google Website Optimizer to test my landing pages via A/B split testing, however this requires a "conversion page" that's hosted on my domain so that it can track which landing page is creating better conversions.
However, since my landing pages link straight to the merchant, the only way for me to "create" a conversion page on my domain is via a re-direct. What I need for the re-direct to do is carry the unique Tracking ID to the merchant's page, so I can continue tracking keyword performance as usual.
The hiccup to my plan is that my hosting has what is called "PHP safe mode." It will not allow PHP support without the safe mode being active. Apparently this restricts what type of PHP scripts can be run on my domain, as it allows the current PHP script (grabbing and passing along the tracking IDs to the merchants' sites) to run, but not in the re-direct.
Had a friend write a code that worked fine on his domain (different hosting), but not mine, and this is the only thing we can single out as the difference between our sites.
1and1's information seems to point toward parsing PHP as HTML - not sure if that's the answer or not.
Again, looking for a script that will pass my tracking IDs through a re-direct, and with PHP safe mode enabled.
