Syslog analysis

I have a two day long syslog file (500 MB compressed ascii text file) for a campus wireless network. I need someone who can parse the syslog and do some analyses. The choice of programming/scripting language depends on you: Perl, C/C++, Awk/Sed (OS: Linux/Unix only). The requirement is that you know how to interpret the messages in the syslog (so you should have some system administration experience) and have some basic knowledge of 802.11b/g networks (such as what is a MAC address, AP, BSSID, ESSID, etc.). I need the following analysis to be done on the syslog: 1) Find the number of unique users. 2) Find session duration values over time. A session is started when a user logs into the network and a session ends when the user logs out or is booted out of the network because of inactivity. 3) Average number of authentication per hour. How many users authenticate per hour (that is log into the network). 4) Roams per session: How many times a user roams within a session (i.e. changes an AP)? 5) Active users per hour 6) And few more analyses based on users and sessions. Will provide the complete details when you and I have talked in detail about the project. I may require you to you show a sample of your work related to my project (you will be remunerated for this work). I will provide you access to my server where you should run your scripts and store the results. All the results should be in CSV format as I will create plots from them. I will explain the logic for creating the analyses scripts. See attached a small sample log with 100,000 lines. Tell me what you understand from the log.
