This project will scrape the itunes store for specific application information.
A breakdown of what the project will do:
1) an apple id is put into a text field and a submit button is pressed.
2) a script will run that will scrape that application's name, developer/company name, cost, description, rating, and logo
3) these details will then be printed into a template. The generated file name will be the original app id. (example, apple's 'remote' application's id is 284417350, so the file that would be created is [url removed, login to view]
I also wish for the details not to be static, so the cost, description etc will always be up to date. If it is possible to update the page info once a week (maybe via mysql database?) this will be perfect. An example of this is if the developer updates the cost, the page created would show the new cost and not the original, but to save on server load, the page would update itself once a week.
i have attached the following file:
[url removed, login to view] - this is the file that the id will be entered and submitted.
apptemplate - this is the layout of the generated file.
appexample - this is an example of the layout with using the apple 'remote' application.
You can use any method to achieve this, html, php, xml, mysql, what ever is needed to get the job done.
Please contact me if further clarity is required.
Additional thought, i great way that this would be is if you only had to type in an app id at the end of a URL, this would generate the page instead of having to use the form. (example, the page would automatically be created by going to www.---.com/apptemplate.php?=284417350)
